Miami Street Art

December 14, 2010

Walking around Miami was wonderfully eye opening because it seemed in every corner, empty wall, or abandoned building, there was some art-type thing on it. Even as a joke the art was still pretty cool.

Cash for your Warhol” signs were by a Boston-based artist Geoff Hargadon were posted all over Miami. Hargadon was inspired by the “Cash for Your House” signs that he has seen in neighborhoods hit particularly hard by the recession. He commissioned the same Texas company that produces the “Cash for Your House” signs to create “Cash for Your Warhol” signs.

Mr. Brainwash (aka Thierry Guetta) rented out a large building on Collins Avenue, the exterior featuring stormtroopers around all sides and a giant banner which read “Love is the Answer” stenciled on a sign held by Einstein. The outside of this building was accompanied by a show inside which was quite crap, but I thought the Stormtroopers were funny.

Saw this in the Wynwood district and thought it was pretty cool for being on an abandoned building.
