Marie Antoinette’s Petit Trianon

The Petit Trianon was considered the Queen’s residence. It was given to her by Louis XVI in 1774. She considered the Petit Trianon, the surrounding gardens, and the close by hamlet to be a place where she found privacy and escape from the rigours of court etiquette. Nobody could come there without the Queen’s invitation.
