Glass Architecture

January 26, 2014

Miami is an odd city when it comes to architecture. There are these amazing Art Deco buildings, Spanish heritage tiled buildings, the modernist buildings that were popular in the 50s and 60s and now large glass buildings that look like they are devoid of any personality or character are sprouting up all over the city. These buildings are supposed to maximize the view of the sky and the water but from the outside they just look like they are all the same.
After looking at these buildings day after day for a week they become mesmerizing or almost hypnotic. The crisp patterns of the glass windows are like tangram puzzles. All you can see are the geometry of the steel, the lines of the glass, and the abstract designs of the Miami landscape.

I agree that architecture glass should set the building apart from others. Like you said, all the buildings above look similar, but are still interesting to look at. Thanks for sharing!
