Medina of Marrakech

April 21, 2014

The Medina of Marrakech (which holds the older souks) is an endless maze of terracotta, limestone, and orange-red clay mixed with chalk. It holds the largest traditional Berber market in Morocco which was first established in 1070. The souks were originally divided into areas of retail which included leather, carpets, metalwork, pottery, clothing and accessories. Now while the order is still there, it is more mixed.
